SophiesArms.com is open for business! { 7/21/2010 }

Hi everybody, this is Josh, the co-designer and developer of this site. The Sophie’s Arms team and I have been working on this site for a few months and it is now ready to see the light of day.

We wanted to create a site that really highlights the quality of this building and the attention to detail that went into each apartment. We wanted it to be easy for prospective tenants to find what they need and for residents to submit requests and get updates about the building. The site fills many roles and it had to do all of them well.

We started by outlining all the information that needed to be included and figured out a dynamic system to display both available and wait-listed units across the site. I came up with a series of simple but descriptive wireframes which went to the main graphic designer, Preston Grubbs.

Preston worked his magic on both the homepage and the Sophie’s Arms logo, coming up with something that communicated the old-world quality and sensibility that went into this building’s renovation. After a few revisions, we had a path forward for the site and a great avatar that was used for Irving’s business cards.

Now it was back to me. I created a system that made it easy to make units available and unavailable, add new images, and change the descriptions. I also built in a contact form that automatically sends information about the units people are interested in. The information is easy to update and it’s easy for the Sophie’s Arm team to add news, pictures, and blog posts like this one!

So, that’s the story of this website! Please take your time walking through the units, reading about the building, and checking out our residents section. Big thanks to Preston Grubbs and the photographer, David Pallais! And just remember, Josh Can Help with wordpress design and development!
